Overview
5-Amino-1MQ is a small molecule inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase, the enzyme that methylates nicotinamide and in doing so diverts it away from the NAD+ salvage pathway. Inhibiting NNMT is studied as a way of interrogating that branch point directly, and the compound appears throughout the metabolic and adipocyte literature for exactly that reason. It is not a peptide and it is quaternary in character, which affects both solubility and the choice of diluent, so protocols written for the lyophilised peptides in the same catalogue do not carry across to it.

Handling, reconstitution and storage
- Store at 2 to 8 °C and protect from light unless the lot documentation states otherwise. Do not freeze.
- Inspect the vial before each withdrawal. Set the vial aside if the solution is discoloured, cloudy or contains particulate matter.
- Withdraw using aseptic technique and a fresh needle each time. Do not return withdrawn material to the vial.
- Record the date of first entry on the vial and establish an in-use period from your own stability testing.
- Use standard personal protective equipment and handle in an appropriate laboratory setting.
Certificate of Analysis
Every lot is supplied with its own Certificate of Analysis. Identity, content and purity figures are those stated on that document for the specific lot supplied, and researchers should verify identity and suitability against their own analytical methods before the material is put into a study.
Research use only
This product is supplied strictly for laboratory research use only. It is not a drug, food, cosmetic or dietary supplement. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it is not intended for human or veterinary consumption or for administration to humans or animals in any form. It must be handled only by qualified researchers in an appropriate laboratory setting, and it is the purchaser who is responsible for ensuring that their intended use complies with all laws and institutional requirements that apply to them.
