Overview
LL-37 is the only cathelicidin derived antimicrobial peptide identified in humans, a 37 residue amphipathic sequence released from the C terminal end of the hCAP18 precursor protein. Its name comes from the two leucine residues at the N terminus and from its length. It is among the most studied host defence peptides in the literature, appearing in work on membrane interaction, bacterial and biofilm models and innate immune signalling, and it is frequently used as a reference sequence in structure activity studies across the cathelicidin family.

Handling, reconstitution and storage
- Store at 2 to 8 °C and protect from light unless the lot documentation states otherwise. Do not freeze.
- Inspect the vial before each withdrawal. Set the vial aside if the solution is discoloured, cloudy or contains particulate matter.
- Withdraw using aseptic technique and a fresh needle each time. Do not return withdrawn material to the vial.
- Record the date of first entry on the vial and establish an in-use period from your own stability testing.
- Use standard personal protective equipment and handle in an appropriate laboratory setting.
Certificate of Analysis
Every lot is supplied with its own Certificate of Analysis. Identity, content and purity figures are those stated on that document for the specific lot supplied, and researchers should verify identity and suitability against their own analytical methods before the material is put into a study.
